The Endocannabinoid System
Cannabis research led to the subsequent discovery of the endocannabinoid system. This network of neurons that work together as your body’s biochemical communicative system is responsible for regulating significant functions that make up our day-to-day experience.
Cannabinoid receptors have been found throughout crucial biological systems, with two being identified as CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB receptors regulate sleep cycles, pain sensations, appetite, inflammation, analgesia, hormones, gastrointestinal mobility, as well as mood-altering neurotransmitters. When CBD is introduced to our bodies, it triggers these receptors that are found throughout our immune system, nervous system, brain, bones, blood vessels, and more, nudging your system towards homeostasis.
